An independent second opinion before you commit
When a second opinion is useful
- A vendor has proposed a cost you cannot confidently benchmark.
- Two proposals appear to solve the same problem at very different prices.
- You are being asked to make a multi-year commitment.
- A major upgrade has been described as necessary.
- The technical detail is substantial, but the business tradeoffs are unclear.
- A deadline is approaching and you need a focused outside review.
What the review can cover
- Scope, assumptions, and missing requirements
- Capacity, licensing, and infrastructure sizing
- One-time and recurring costs
- Contract lock-in and exit considerations
- Security, maintenance, and ownership responsibilities
- Practical alternatives, including a smaller or phased approach
- A plain-language written summary when the engagement calls for one
How it works
Three steps
Free fit conversation
We discuss the decision, the material available, and the deadline. If a review is not likely to add value, I will say so.
Defined review
I review the material, ask targeted questions, and compare the recommendation with the actual requirement.
Findings and next steps
You receive a clear explanation of the tradeoffs and a practical recommendation. A written conclusion can be included when you need something to share with a partner, leadership team, or board.
Fees
Most document-based reviews are scoped at a flat fee. Broader or evolving advisory work can be hourly. The deliverable and fee are agreed in writing before work begins; the initial conversation is free.
Independent advice, disclosed interests
Robinson Consulting also operates specialist implementation brands. If one is relevant to the recommendation, I will disclose the connection and explain the alternatives. You are free to use any provider, and the value of the review does not depend on a follow-on sale.
Get an outside read before you decide.
Send a short description of the proposal or decision. Please do not attach confidential material until we have confirmed the right way to share it.
